Valentine's themed show to inaugurate Triangle Cabaret Series

For Immediate Release: January 19, 2005
Media Contact: Jane Stojak, Random Acts of Theater at the Triangle Theater, 215.763.0110

Love in all its variations is the theme of the Triangle Theater's Valentine's Day Cabaret, "St. Valentine's Day Live!," the first in a series of four cabaret variety shows to be presented annually at the theater. "St. Valentine's Day Live!" will include songs, comedy, scenes and monologues by the area's top up-and-coming actors, and takes place Friday, Feb. 11, Saturday, Feb. 12 and Monday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. with a Sunday, Feb. 13 matinee at 3 p.m.

Among the pieces being performed are original monologues and scenes from Tina Brock, Peter Crist, Tanesha Ford, Dee Freidel, Jeff Frost, Polly Macintyre, and Jay Nachman. Performers include Tony Perry, who recently completed a national tour of "Ain't Misbehavin'" and was featured in "The Elf, The Bunny and The Big Xmas Blow Up" at the John Houseman Theater in New York City; and Fringe Festival veterans Tina Brock, Tanesha Ford, Kati Kertesz, Jay Nachman and Jane Stojak. Co-producing and appearing in the show is the Triangle Theater's Co-Artistic Director Arje Shaw, the playwright whose "Magic Hands Freddy" was an off-Broadway hit in 2004, and whose "The Gathering" starring Hal Linden played on Broadway in the late 1990s.

In addition, Jeff Frost will be performing a piece from his upcoming one-person show "The Decadent Dalmatian Goes to Hollywood," scheduled for April 2005 at the Triangle and based on his experience as a struggling actor in Los Angeles. Polly Macintyre and Tanesha Ford will be performing pieces from their upcoming Fringe shows.

Other performers include newcomers to the Philadelphia stage, Franklin Shen, Patricia Bartlett and Genevieve Perrier, and veteran Philadelphia performers, Demetria Bailey and Michael Hans, who has a cult following in Philadelphia for his performances as "Dirty Diamond," a send-up of Neil Diamond.

The cost of the Cabaret is $25 and includes hors d'oeuvres and beverages. The Triangle Theater is located at 1220 N. Lawrence Street, Philadelphia. Call 215-763-0110 for information or reservations, or visit www.triangletheater.com for more information.

The Triangle Theater was created in 2001. Since 1999, its producing arm, Random Acts of Theater has produced more than 10 plays based on original material. The Triangle Theater was honored in November 2004 by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia with a Barrymore award for New Collaborations in Theatre, for their collaboration with KitchenAid's The Book and The Cook festival on the Spring 2004 productions of Arje Shaw's "A Catered Affair" and Michael A. Carson's "Front of House."
