All Star Creative Team To Work Their Magic On August Wilson's Award Winning Fences At Bristol Riverside Theatre

You get the creative team assembled by Artistic Director Edward Keith Baker and Founding Producing Director Susan D. Atkinson for BRT's production of August Wilson's Fences.

Bristol Riverside Theatre is proud to announce the creative team for their production of Fences that runs from March 15 to April 3, 2005. They are: Director Keith Glover, Set Designer David Gallo, Costume Designer Ann Hould-Ward and Lighting Designer Troy Martin-O'Shia.

Heading a team of this magnitude is no small task, but director Keith Glover is more than up to the challenge. Mr. Glover, a longtime associate of August Wilson, is a versatile director, actor and playwright and has proven that he does all three with equal prowess. His most recent play Dark Paradise was produced at the Cincinnati Playhouse where it won the Rosenthal Award. His first play, Dancing on Moonlight, was produced in 1995 at the Joseph Papp Public Theatre by The New York Shakespeare Festival. His second play, Coming of the Hurricane, premiered at Denver Center Theatre Company, has been produced at Arena Stage and Crossroads Theatre, and was a finalist for the American Theatre Critic's Award for Best Play and runner up for the Theodore Award Prize for Playwrights. His play Thunder Knocking at the Door was originally commissioned by the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and has been produced around the country by Yale Rep, Dallas Theatre Center, Baltimore Center Stage, Northlight Theatre, San Jose Repertory, The Guthrie Theatre, The Cincinnati Playhouse, The Old Globe, and Trinity Repertory Theatre in addition to others. In addition, Thunder Knocking at the Door was the 1997 winner of the Osborn Award, given by the American Critics Association, and the recipient of the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Musical. Mr. Glover has directed productions of his play In Walks Ed that won the Rosenthal Award and was subsequently nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. In addition, Mr. Glover has directed at such theatres as The Cincinnati Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, The Northlight Theatre, The Great Lakes Theatre Festival, The Old Globe Theatre, GeVa Theatre, and Arena Stage, where he received a Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Director of a Musical. As an actor, Mr. Glover has appeared regionally at Baltimore Center Stage as Sterling in Two Trains Running, at Hartford Stage as Scott in Pill Hill, and Lyons in Fences with John Amos at Capital Repertory Company. On television, Mr. Glover has appeared on the Fox series NY Undercover as Adrean Franks, and on the daytime drama As The World Turns as Kenny Hathaway. On film, Mr. Glover appeared in Jackknife with Robert DeNiro.

Set Designer David Gallo's Broadway credits include Dance of The Vampires at the Minskoff Theatre, Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Marquis Theatre, Smell of the Kill at the Helen Hayes Theatre, King Headley II at the Virginia Theatre (2001 Drama Desk Award nomination), Epic Proportions at the Helen Hayes, Voices in the Dark at the Longacre Theatre, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown at the Ambassador Theatre (1999 Drama Desk Award nomination), the Roundabout Theatre revivals of Little Me (1999 FANY Award nomination), The Lion in Winter and A View From the Bridge (American Theatre Wing Award nomination) at the Neil Simon Theatre, More To Love at the Eugene O'Neill, Jackie: An American Life at the Belasco Theatre (American Theatre Wing Award nomination), and Hughie, starring and directed by Al Pacino, at Circle in the Square (American Theatre Wing Award nomination) (also Long Wharf and Mark Taper Forum). Off-Broadway credits include Mr. Goldwyn at the Promenade Theatre; Wonder of the World at Manhattan Theatre Club; Jitney at Second Stage/Union Square Theatre (2000 Drama Desk Award and Lucille Lortel Awards - Best Set Design of a Play); the world premiere of The Wild Party by Andrew Lippa at Manhattan Theatre Club (2000 Drama Desk Award nomination); the world premiere of A New Brain at Lincoln Center Theater; Alan Ayckbourn's Communicating Doors at the Variety Arts Theatre, Bunny, Bunny at the Lucille Lortel Theater (Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards), Jar the Floor at Second Stage Theatre (AUDELCO Award nomination), Blue Man Group/Tubes at the Astor Place Theatre (also Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas - 2000 EDDY Award), Michael Greif's production of Machinal at the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater (Drama Desk Award nomination). Among his additional credits, Mr. Gallo designed the highly praised National Tour of Angels in America, directed by Michael Mayer, for which he received an LA Drama Critics Circle Award nomination and the current National Tour of Blue's Clues Live for Pace Theatricals and Nickelodeon. He has also designed extensively in the regional theatres and for numerous industrials and television commercials. His work was also recently seen representing set design at the Design Triennial at the Cooper-Hewitt. David is the recipient of multiple Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Ovation, American Theatre Wing and Outer Critics Circle Awards. He has also received NAACP, AUDELCO, Obie and EDDY Awards. His work is also in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute.

Costume Designer Ann Hould-Ward is no stranger to the Broadway stage either. Ms. Hould-Ward received the 1994 Tony Award as well as the American Theatre Wing's Design Award for Best Costume Design in Beauty and the Beast. She was selected to represent the United States in the 1995 Prague Design Quadrennial. Her costume designs for Broadway include Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), Maharam Award for Outstanding Costume Design), Harrigan and Hart (Maharam nomination), Into the Woods (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critic's Circle nominations; Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Award), The Moliere Comedies at the Roundabout, Falsettos, St. Joan, Three Men on a Horse, In the Summer House, and Timon of Athens. Designs for Off-Broadway include Cymbeline, On the Verge, and Personals. Dance designs include collaborations with Graciella Daniele (Ballet Hispanico) and Lar Lubovitch (White Oak Project). Designs for Regional Theatre include projects at the Guthrie Theater, Arena Stage and Seattle Rep.

As a freelance Lighting Designer, Troy Martin-O'Shia's Philadelphia work has been featured at the Walnut Street Theater, The Prince Music Theater, The People's Light and Theatre Company, 1812 Productions, Freedom Repertory Theater, The Kimmel Center, Venture Theatre, Cheltenham Center for the Arts, The University of the Arts, The Curtis Institute Opera Theatre, Delaware Theater Company, and Opera Delaware, where he is the Resident Lighting Designer. Dance company credits consist of Group Motion, Leah Stein Dance Co., Winged Woman Dance Co, and Network for New Music. Troy's work in New York has been in Carnegie Hall, The Houseman Theatre, Theater 603, and Princeton Rep. Shakespeare Festival. National work includes the PCPA Theatrefest (California), Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and The Southern Illinois University. Industrial and event lighting includes Hoshino Corporation (Ibanez Guitars & TAMA Drums), the Allison Corporation of Las Vegas, Philadelphia's City Hall Gala, and The PSFS Mellon Bank Jazz Festival. Honors include two nominations for Philadelphia's Barrymore Award as well as The Philadelphia Inquirer's "Best of 2001". Troy's work was featured in the movie Jersey Girl directed by Kevin Smith.
