Arden Theatre Company Announces Extension: The Syringa Tree, Written by Pamela Gien & Directed by Whit MacLaughlin, Extended through March 20, 2005 For Immediate Release: February 21, 2005 Arden Theatre Company is pleased to announce an extension of The Syringa Tree which will now run through March 20 for an additional seven performances. Due to an overwhelming response from educators, four of the added seven performances will be student matinees. The Syringa Tree is a powerful play that chronicles the abiding love between two families, one white and one black, in apartheid-era South Africa. This semi-autobiographical, 24-character play is an intimate journey of the heart based on the memories of its author, English South African Pamela Gien. Whit MacLaughlin directs Catharine K. Slusar (Northeast Local, Sideways Stories from Wayside School) in the coveted one-woman role. Ticket prices range from $24 to $40 and may be purchased by calling the Arden Box Office at 215.922.1122, online at www.ardentheatre.org or in person at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia. Discounted group rates and three-show subscriptions are also available. The Arden is accessible to people with disabilities. Accessible seating is available by reservation. WHERE: WHEN: WHO: Featuring: Catharine K. Slusar joins Philadelphia favorite Tom McCarthy (Theatre Exile's The Philly Fan) in a salon hosted at the Arden on March 21 from 6-7:30 pm. The two will share ideas, thoughts, and unbelievable stories about their one-person shows.
