Act Out Theatre presents Cabaret starring Jen Faith Brown For Immediate Release: April 14, 2005 Sometimes it's best to take a moment out of our hectic lives and slow down to enjoy life and the people around us. Act Out Theatre will give us this opportunity when it presents This Moment, a cabaret starring Equity actress Jen Faith Brown with accompanist Kahlil Gunther. This Moment will include a variety of contemporary Broadway show tunes, classic Broadway music, movie and children song titles, and a short musical interlude that will take us back in time to the 1950s including Elvis and Buddy Holly. This cabaret, filled with music for both adults and kids alike, will take audiences on a fantastic journey of dreams, imagination and nostalgia, while promoting a world that's positive and enjoyable to live in. Intermission will feature a selection of delectable desserts and beverages, generously provided by Acme Markets. Performances are April 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Reliance Fire Hall in Woodstown, NJ and April 30 at 7:30 p.m. and May 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Mantua Fire Hall in Mantua. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. A Family Four-Pack (including two adults and two children) is available for $32. Jen Faith Brown returns to Act Out Theatre after playing Della in "The Gift of the Magi." She has performed as a soloist in cabaret venues both regionally and in New York, and has also performed as a back-up vocalist for artists including Tom Wopat, Smokey Robinson, and Alice Ripley in a holiday concert with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. Her two years at The Alabama Shakespeare Festival found her playing Raina in "Arms and the Man," Leonide in "The Triumph of Love," Belle in "A Christmas Carol" and Meg in Doris Baizley's world premiere "Shiloh Rules." Additionally, she has worked with New York City Opera, Theatre Works USA, Access Theatre, Chekhov Now Festival, Syracuse Stage, The Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, New Day Repertory Theatre. Currently, she is performing "Only a Girl," a two-character play with music based on the life of holocaust rescuer Irene Gut Opdyke. Kahlil Gunther (Music Director, Accompanist) is an active pianist and accompanist, performing extensively in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area as a soloist and with vocalists and ensembles. He has worked as a musical director for regional theatres (including Act Out Theatre's "The Gift of the Magi"), dinner theatres and community theatres, as well as college productions, church choirs and cabaret performers. Since 1995, Gunther has been Director of Choral Activities at Woodstown High School where he also provides music direction for the Drama Club. He is currently recording Waiting for Autumn, an album of his original piano music.
