Media Theatre's Roger Ricker Performs In Concert June 18 For Immediate Release: May 25, 2005 One of Media Theatre's most familiar voices will sing to raise funds for the State Street cornerstone Saturday evening, June 18 at 7:30pm. Roger Ricker, who has appeared in over 40 Media Theatre Broadway musical revivals and children's shows since 1994, will perform in his second benefit concert titled Roger Ricker: I'm Still Here. "The title doesn't refer to a certain show tune," Ricker explains. "It simply states that after all these years, through the various changes the theatre has gone through and all of the ups and downs---here I am. I'm still here. It's like being married, you know? 'Til death do us part!" Ricker's first concert last year was a success, raising over $3500 for the theatre's programming. "I hope this year brings in even more," he said. "This theatre is more than a building--it's the home to Delaware County's only professional theatre company. If people could just understand how important that is to the entire region." The importance of the Media Theatre is certainly known to the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, which produces the Barrymore Awards. "This past year, we won a Barrymore award for Jennie Eisenhower's performance in Artistic Director Jesse Cline's production of The Wild Party," Ricker stated. Another important aspect of the Media Theatre is its contribution to the growth of young people in the community who have an interest in the arts. "Our summer camp has become so successful in the past five years that we were asked to have Media Theatre campers perform for President Bush's arrival in Ridley Park this past August." Ricker performed the National Anthem for the President of the United States during the event. As in last year's concert, Ricker will have 'special guests' join him onstage June 18. Nina Donze, a 2004 Barrymore Award nominee for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, is looking forward to sharing the stage with him this year. Donze recently received excellent reviews for her portrayal of Agnes in the Media Theatre's I Do, I Do. "The Media Theatre is a treasure, and we must do all we can to support its mission of bringing quality, professional music theatre to the region," she said. "We look forward to seeing all of our friends here, and hopefully some new acquaintances, for this special concert," Ricker said. "It's a fun way to support the Media Theatre! We will sing some of your favorite Broadway songs." Roger Ricker In Concert: I'm Still Here is Saturday evening, June 18 at 7:30pm at The Media Theatre. Tickets are $25, which includes a reception following the show in the theatre's elegant Crystal Room. Call 610-891-0100 for tickets, or visit www.mediatheatre.org.
