Lantern Theater Company Announces New Managing Director; Recent hire brings synergy to company's art and administration For Immediate Release: September 6, 2005 Karyn B. Lyman has accepted the position of Managing Director of the Lantern Theater Company in Philadelphia. Ms. Lyman comes to the Lantern from her position as Associate Managing Director of Yale Repertory Theater. She has worked in both commercial and not-for-profit theaters, including Williamstown Theatre Festival, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Scott Rudin Productions in New York and the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven. "Karyn Lyman was the first choice of the Search Committee from among the many talented applicants for this position. Her enthusiasm, sense of excitement and administrative know-how complements the Lantern's existing level of artistic excellence," says Lantern Board President, Jay Goldberg of Wolf, Block, Shorr and Solis-Cohen. As Managing Director, Ms. Lyman will implement the theater's strategic plan, which includes laying the financial and procedural groundwork to strengthen marketing and fundraising, and round out the administrative staff. "Philadelphia is an energetic theater town," says Lyman. "The Lantern's energy saturates its artistic work and its dedicated staff and Board. I am honored to join the Lantern team." Ms. Lyman is a MFA graduate in Theater Management from Yale School of Drama. She also graduated Cum Laude from Barnard College with a B.A. in English and is a recipient of the Morris J. Kaplan Award in Theater Management. "Karyn's arrival marks the beginning of an exciting stage of growth for the Lantern Theater Company," says Charles McMahon, Artistic Director. The Lantern Theater enters its twelfth year with its most collaborative season yet! Kicking off the season is THE LADY FROM THE SEA by Henrik Ibsen, in conjunction with the Edvard Munch exhibit at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Next on stage is THE FOOCY, the World Premiere of folktale conceived by Anthony Lawton. Then, the poignant and powerful U.S.. Premiere of NOVECENTO by Alessandro Baricco, will grace the Lantern stage. Closing the 2005-2006 Season is the politically charged Shakespearean history, RICHARD III. For the 2005-2006 Season, ticket prices range from $17-$28. New this season - All Thursday performances begin at 7 PM. THE FOOCY also features Wednesday performances at 7PM.
