Area Builder Donates $100,000 to Montgomery Theater

For Immediate Release: October 20, 2005
Media Contact: Hope deFrenes, Montgomery Theater, 610.405.9973

The Montgomery Theater of Souderton was delighted to receive a pledge of $100,000 by Harleysville-based residential construction company, T.H. Properties (known as THP).

"Theater has always been something that I've enjoyed, and to have a first-class theater right in our back yards is exciting," exclaims THP's general partner, Todd Hendricks. "Not only that," continues Hendricks, "but to think that the Montgomery Theater is playing a central part in the revitalization of the Souderton-Telford Main Streets is equally exciting."

THP will give the money in four annual installments of $25,000. Over the course of the four years, the money will be used to pay part of the salary of the Montgomery Theater's Artistic Director, Tom Quinn. Since the theater's inception in 1992, the Artistic Director was a volunteer position and Quinn stayed the course for 13 years in that role. As the theater steadily grew in size and performances, however, Quinn's work load followed suit and the need for his position to become a paid one became apparent.

It was at this time that THP was approached about the idea of being a possible sponsor. "THP recognizes the quality that we stand for and, thus, has always been very generous to the Montgomery Theater," said Quinn. "It seemed apparent that this was the perfect partnership to help us continue our artistic vision. I am humbled by THP's encouragement and support," he went on to say.

"There is no hidden agenda here," says Hendricks, speaking about his company's financial partnership with the theater. "Many times, people get the impression that if a company (especially a builder) makes a sizable donation to an organization, it means they want something in return. That's not the case at all. We only want to make people more aware of the arts in the suburban Philadelphia area."
