The Ritz Theatre Company's Season Opener "Cabaret" For Immediate Release: December 20, 2005 The Ritz Theatre Company's 21st season opens with "Cabaret," running January 12 through February 18, 2006, at the historic Ritz Theatre, located at 915 White Horse Pike in Camden County, NJ. Based on the play "I Am a Camera" by John van Druten and on stories by Christopher Isherwood. With the book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, "Cabaret" made its Broadway Premier Nov. 20, 1966. The Broadway Revival opened in October of 1987. Cabaret is a tale of tarnished innocents abroad in a land with no time for innocence. Set in Berlin in the late 1920's at the beginning of the Third Reich, the story surrounds Sally Bowles, a English cabaret dancer who works at the seedy bordello, the Kit Kat Club. She is a reckless English girl trying to b elieve in her singing talent who falls in love with Cliff Bradshaw, a young American hoping to become a writer. Caught up in the glitter and frenzy of Berlin, Sally becomes pregnant and Cliff offers to marry her. Amy Sprouse of Smithville, NJ plays Sally Bowles. Jeff Fein of Voorhees plays Cliff Bradshaw the aspiring writer. Joshua Bessinger of Burlington takes the role of the Emcee. Edward Ippolito of Mullica Hill plays Ernst Ludwig. Mike Bracken of Haddonfield is Herr Shultz. Dawn Varava of Voorhees is Fraulein Schneider and Jen Rosario- Kent of Maple Shade is Fraulein Kost. The production is directed by Mat Wright of Camden. Melissa Tepperman of Collingswood is vocal director. Costumes by Trish Riechfield of Voorhees. Set Design by Bart Healy of Collingswood. Choreography by Richard Amelius of New York. Sound by John Zettlemoyer of Audubon with lighting by Al Conforti of Glassboro. Performances: Jan. 12- Feb. 18, 2006. Fri.,Sat., at 8 pm ($25.00) and Sun.at 2 pm ($20).
