Hedgerow Presents World Premiere Comedy By Nagle Jackson, IN THE FAMILY ROOM For Immediate Release: March 1, 2006 Hedgerow Theatre presents its 5th annual New Play March 17-April 9, featuring the world premiere of IN THE FAMILY by nationally-known playwright and director Nagle Jackson. The festival also includes three Plays-in-Progress workshops on Monday evenings April 27 to March 17. With Hedgerow's 2005 Barrymore award for Outstanding New Play (for The Lives of Bosie by John Wolfson), under Producing Artistic Director Penelope Reed's direction Hedgerow is becoming known for staging new works to challenge and delight theatre-lovers. Ms. Reed is pleased to celebrate the return of Nagle Jackson to the Hedgerow Theatre, for what he promises will be a yearly event. Last year, the theater staged Mr. Jackson's play This Day and Age. This year, Hedgerow will present the world premiere of Mr. Jackson's new script IN THE FAMILY ROOM March 17 - April 9. The play asks the question "what happens when "big" is no longer best -- when the mansion overwhelms and security means scurrying to the basement family room?" This contemporary comedy of manners about a modern nuclear off-kilter family will inspire laughter, understanding and thought. The cast will feature Penelope Reed, Doug Wild, Chris Huissler and Jennifer Shelter. Mr. Jackson's distinguished directorial career on the national resident theatre scene includes Associate Director with A.C.T., San Francisco, Artistic Director of the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and the McCarter Theatre in Princeton. He followed his administrative directorship with a career as a playwright, winning the Onassis Foundation International Playwright's Competition in 1998. Six of his plays have been published and produced at many theatres both here and abroad. Mr. Jackson has been a guest director at leading resident theatres in the U.S. and has also directed at the Bolshoi Dramatic Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia and the Trondelag Theatre in Trondheim, Norway. He is currently Director of New Play Development at the Denver Center Theatre Company. He and his wife, Sandy, live in Princeton Junction, N.J. IN THE FAMILY will be performed March 16 - April 9 Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 on Thursday and Sunday, $25 on Friday and Saturday, with $3 discounts for students and seniors. Tickets for students under age 18 are $10. Special discounts are available for patrons who wish to see both productions. Hedgerow Theatre is at 64 Rose Valley Road, Media.
