Nolen, Arden's producing artistic director and co-founder, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is an irreverent farce bursting with infectious energy and sexy fun. To win his freedom, a Roman slave schemes to win the hand of a beautiful courtesan for his master. Since moving to its current location in 1995, Arden Theatre Company has become a preeminent Philadelphia cultural institution and an anchor in the vibrant Old City neighborhood. Said Pennsylvania Governor (and former Philadelphia Mayor) Edward G. Rendell, "When I think of nonprofit organizations that are having a major economic impact on their neighborhoods, none comes to mind sooner than the Arden." "The community's willingness to embrace the Arden has been one of the most rewarding aspects of running the theatre," said managing director, Amy Murphy. "Our patrons are our lifeblood and I am grateful for their unbridled enthusiasm and ongoing support."
