Bristol Riverside Theatre Presents WAR SONGS: The Songs of the Vietnam Era For Immediate Release: June 21, 2006 Remember the times and recall the feelings when being young meant being able to change the world. Bristol Riverside Theatre presents as its second offering of the BRT Summer Musicale Series, War Songs: The Songs of the Vietnam Era, running July 6 through 16, 2006 at Bristol Riverside Theatre, 120 Radcliffe Street, in Historic Bristol Borough. During the time of our most controversial war, some of our most unforgettable songs were written. War Songs is a celebration of the music written during the years of Vietnam; mainstream songs of the Beatles and James Taylor to counter-culture music from Jefferson Airplane and Jimmy Hendrix. This musicale looks back at that time and includes songs like What the World Needs Now, Blowin' in the Wind, Joy to the World, You've Got a Friend, Scarborough Fair, Me and Bobby McGee, California Dreamin', American Pie and many more. Edward Keith Baker, BRT's Artistic Director who conceived and directs this musicale has assembled a cast of eight outstanding singers. Carl Anthony-Tramon, Demetria Joyce Bailey, Anthony D'Amato, Val Moranto, Stephanie Palumbo, Will Perez, Keith Spencer, and Phoenix Ximenez. Both Keith Spencer and Demetria Joyce Bailey recently played to rave reviews in For Sentimental Reasons at BRT. Stephanie Palumbo was last seen at BRT as young Allie in I Married Wyatt Earp.
