DETAILS:
Nominees for the 12th annual Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre and the host for the 2006 Gala Barrymore Award Ceremony, the premier annual event in Philadelphia theatre, will be announced at a press conference hosted by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia on August 16th at 10:00 AM at The Wilma Theater in Philadelphia.

Nominees in acting, direction and design categories, along with nominees for the anticipated F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist and the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced by Joanne Harmelin, Carole Haas Gravagno, Production Stage Manager of The Wilma Theater Patreshettarlini Adams, Chair of the Theatre Alliance Board of Directors Glen Knapp, Amy Hodgdon of Philadelphia Young Playwrights, and Vincent Marini, director of the Barrymore Award Ceremony. The award recipients will be announced at the Award Ceremony held at the Merriam Theater on Monday, October 23rd at 7:00 PM.

Details will also be announced for the Philadelphia New Play Festival: Where Theatre Begins, which will be held February 8 - 18, 2007. A multi-organizational and region-wide effort, the festival will feature world premiere productions, readings and seminars and will celebrate the vibrancy and excellence of new play activity in the region.

The Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia will also introduce the organization's new Executive Director to the community.
