Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show, is an autumn staple not because of the high energy rock music and choreography, but because it lends it self to Halloween Traditions. For over thirty years people have been celebrating Halloween by attending performances of the tale of alien transsexuals from the planet Transylvania, inhabiting a spooky mansion here on earth for inexplicable reasons, and dressing as their favorite characters, participating in the dialogue, even throwing things at the actors! The Academy Theatre fully embraces The Rocky Horror Show tradition by allowing, even supplying things to throw at the actors and encouraging the audience to yell the "standard" call-backs and even make up some of their own! The Rocky Horror show is a spectacle, an event, an annual celebration of the show's main theme "Don't Dream it. Be It!"
