Delaware Theatre Company (DTC) is partnering with Theatre N and The Chef's Table at The David Finney Inn to offer the community two entertaining evenings and a chance to learn more about DTC's upcoming world premiere of the new musical Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul by Kevin Ramsey.
November 16, 2006 - Sam Cooke: Legend Documentary at Theatre N
Join DTC and Theatre N for a showing of this documentary film of legendary singing sensation Sam Cooke and to learn about his humble beginnings, his rise to stardom, and his support of the civil rights movement. The documentary includes vintage performance footage and commentaries from family and fellow artists. Begin the evening with a happy hour at Deep Blue Bar and Grill at 6:30PM, and then head across the street to Theatre N for the showing of Sam Cooke: Legend at 7:30PM. Immediately following the film, enjoy light refreshments and an enlightening question and answer session with Kevin Ramsey, playwright/director for DTC's world premiere of Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul. Theatre N is located on 11th Street, downtown Wilmington. Tickets are $5 (does not include Deep Blue happy hour) and can be ordered by calling Theatre N at 302.571.4699 or visiting www.theatren.org. November 28, 2006 - A Soulful Dinner with DTC and The Chef's Table at The David Finney Inn
DTC and The Chef's Table at the David Finney Inn are partnering once again to offer the perfect appetizer to the world premiere of Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul. Enjoy a remarkable dinner in historic New Castle while Kevin Ramsey, playwright/director for Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul, speaks about the show and the life of this soul singer. The Chef's Table will offer a three-course dinner that includes a choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert. Gratuity and non-alcoholic beverages are included. Two seatings are available at 5:30PM and 8:00PM, and are limited to 40 people each. A $70 package is offered, that includes a discounted theatre ticket of $35 to any performance of Sam Cook: Forever Mr. Soul, running December 6-24, and $35 for the dinner. For dinner-only, the cost per person is $40. Reservations may be made no later than November 22, 2006 by calling the DTC Box Office at 302.594.1100. The Chef's Table is located in historic New Castle, on 200 Delaware Street.
Proudly sponsored by Wilmington Trust,Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul , conceived, written and directed by Kevin Ramsey, runs December 6-24, 2006. Opening Night is Saturday, December 9. Evening performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8PM (except 12/15); matinee performances are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2PM (except 12/6 and 12/9); and a special Friday Early Show on December 15 at 6:30PM. Tickets are $28-$48, depending on the performance day and time, with special discounts for students, seniors, and groups of 10 or more.
