DTC Holds Fourth Annual Toy Drive for Children & Families First - Over 600 Toys Collected Since 2003

For Immediate Release: November 15, 2006
Media Contact: Amy Watson Bish, Delaware Theatre Company, 302.594.1104 x244

No child should have to wake up Christmas morning without a present to open from Santa. And no parent should have to see the look on his or her child's face because there isn't anything under the tree. These feelings were what spurred Delaware Theatre Company (DTC) staff members to initiate a toy drive at the theatre in 2003. Now entering its fourth year, the toy drive benefits Children & Families First, a private, non-profit social service agency that strengthens families and communities by providing quality social, educational and mental health services.

From December 4-19, DTC will accept donations of new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages infant to 14 years old. The toys collected will be turned over to Children & Families First and then distributed to the families they assist. Many of the children they help are in foster care, take part in a counseling or family education program, or come from low-income families. Since 2003, DTC has received donations of over 600 toys. The DTC staff hopes that this season will be the most successful yet!

DTC accepts donations of new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages infant to 14 years old. Donations may be dropped off at the theatre, located at 200 Water Street, Wilmington, from December 4 through December 19 from 9 AM to 5 PM and until 8 PM on performance days. For more information, contact the DTC Box Office at (302) 594-1100 or visit www.delawaretheatre.org.

Delaware Theatre Company's 2006-2007 season is sponsored by JPMorgan Chase. Artist housing provided by Pettrinaro Relocation. Artist transportation provided by Amtrak.
