There's Always Action in the BCKSEET on Valentine's Day! BCKSEET Productions Announces Valentine's Day Sucks 3 to Benefit Future Productions

For Immediate Release: January 17, 2007
Media Contact: Greg DeCandia, BCKSEET Productions, 267.577.3007

Not getting any action this Valentine's Day? Then jump in the BCKSEET for Valentine's Day Sucks 3! This evening of rock and raffles to benefit BCKSEET Productions will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at the Society Hill Playhouse's Red Room. The party starts at 8 PM, and the musical acts begin performing at 9 PM. Seating is general. Tickets are $25 and include a drink from the Red Room's bar, a raffle ticket for fabulous gift certificates and door prizes, and a compilation CD of Valentine's Day Sucks artists. Tickets are available at the Society Hill Playhouse, located at 507 S. 8th Street in Philadelphia, or by calling 215-923-0210.

Valentine's Day Sucks 3 is the perfect remedy for anyone who's sick of Cupid, cute couples and chocolate hearts. As it has in year's past, the musical bill will spotlight refreshing, young local talent performing one ballad, one up-tempo song and one cover of a love song. Ashley Phillips (www.myspace.com/ashleyphillipsband), the winner of last year's Valentine's Day Still Sucks, will headline the evening. Other musical guests include Janice Rowland (www.myspace.com/janicerowlandmusic ), John Von Glaubitz (www.myspace.com/johnglaubitz), markd (www.myspace.com/markdflipmusic), Ted Wioncek (www.myspace.com/tedwioncekandnickmuni ) and Alex Radus ( www.alexradus.com). Anthony D'Amato (www.myspace.com/anthonydamato), BCKSEET's wicked version of Cupid, returns for a second year to emcee the evening's festivities.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit BCKSEET Productions' upcoming shows, such as Hung on a Blonde Ponytail: An Act of Rock, which will have its world premiere this April. Hung on a Blonde Ponytail is an original rock musical in which two hometown heroes, bonded by envy and passion, create an album that will immortalize them as romantics, rockers and rivals. During Valentine's Day Sucks 3, a live, ten-minute teaser of Hung on a Blonde Ponytail will be performed.

Greg DeCandia, BCKSEET's Producing Artistic Director and the creator of Hung on a Blonde Ponytail, comments on the event: "BCKSEET maintains its commitment to local music with our annual fundraiser. We are thrilled to continually bridge the gap between Philly's vibrant music scene and the thriving theatre community."

ABOUT BCKSEET PRODUCTIONS: Founded in 2000 at Emerson College in Boston, BCKSEET Productions is currently celebrating its third season in Philadelphia and the second as resident theatre company of The Red Room at The Society Hill Playhouse.
