Act II Playhouse Will Honor June Wolfson at Second Annual Awards Gala April 21

The Second Annual Act II Playhouse Awards Dinner/Dance will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Meadowlands Country Club, Blue Bell PA from 7 PM to Midnight. Tickets are $100-per-person and tables of ten are available at $900. The evening will also include an awards ceremony, a silent auction, entertainment, ballroom dancing, dinner and cash bar.
The Playhouse will be presenting the Second Annual "Laurie Beechman Memorial Award" to Philanthropist June Wolfson of the June and Steve Wolfson Family Foundation. Ms. Wolfson, a graduate of Cheltenham High School and Michigan State University, and her husband, are longtime supporters of theatre, the arts and humanitarian causes. They have played a significant role in the advancement of Act II Playhouse, sponsoring the current play "Almost Maine" which runs through April 8.
The late Ms. Beechman, for whom the award is named, was a native of the Philadelphia area and is fondly remembered by theatre-goers as a member of the original cast of "Annie" in the New York production and for her lead roles in "Cats", "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Les Miserables". One of Philadelphia's foremost musical theatre artists, Ms. Beechman was a remarkable and critically acclaimed Broadway star, concert and cabaret recording artist.
Music and the evening's entertainment will be provided by the Bobby Block Orchestra.
Act II Playhouse is Montgomery County's premier professional theatre. It was incorporated as a non profit theatre in August, 1998, and opened on April 21, 1999 - eight years exactly to the date of the Gala. The playhouse is now presenting its' eighth full five play season, scheduled through June, 2007. In addition to the theatrical productions Act II has been actively involved in community programs, such as bringing theatrical experiences to area high school students and ongoing involvement in charitable causes.
