Spring brings birth, reawakening...everything is new. During this time of fresh starts, the Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is presenting The Chosen, a story of new friendship. Chaim Potok dramatized his award-winning novel with the help of local director and playwright, Aaron Posner.

Two worlds meet in 1940's Brooklyn when Reuven and Danny strike up an unlikely friendship. One is the son of a respected Jewish scholar, the other is the son of a Hasidic rabbi. Yet despite growing up "five blocks and a world away" from each other, their relationship affects the rest of their lives.

These disparate worlds have been brought to the stage by director Dennis Bloh. Actors Ben Fried of Hatboro, Chris Monaco of Wallingford, George Mulford of Swarthmore, Maxx Naseef of Norristown and Joe Pagano of Philadelphia breathe life into their complex characters.

The Chosen runs March 22-25, March 29 - April 1 and April 5-7. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8pm and Sunday matinées are at 2pm. The Players Club of Swarthmore is located just minutes from the Blue Route and I-95 at 614 Fairview Avenue in Swarthmore.
