June Wolfson To Be Honored at Second Annual Act II Playhouse Awards Gala April 21 For Immediate Release: March 28, 2007
The Second Annual Act II Playhouse Awards Dinner/Dance will feature the presentation of the second "Laurie Beechman Memorial Award" to Philanthropist June Wolfson of the June and Steve Wolfson Family Foundation. The Gala will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Meadowlands Country Club, Blue Bell PA from 7 PM to Midnight. Tickets are $100-per-person and tables of ten are available at $900. The evening will also include an awards ceremony, a silent auction, entertainment by the Bobby Block Orchestra, ballroom dancing, dinner and cash bar. The Playhouse will be honoring Ms. Wolfson, a graduate of Cheltenham High School and Michigan State University, that evening in recognition of the work done by her, and her husband, who are longtime supporters of theatre, the arts and humanitarian causes. They have played a significant role in the advancement of Act II Playhouse, sponsoring the current play "Almost Maine" which runs through April 8. June is an active member of the Philadelphia community and the Jackson Hole WY community where she and her husband live for a portion of the year. As a former owner/operator of a retail gift shop in Jenkintown, she has long been involved in the community life in Montgomery County. She has served and continues to serve on a wide-ranging collection of community boards including: Laurel House Board of Montgomery County, Advocate for Battered Women in Montgomery County, Advocate for Battered Women in Jackson Wyoming, Big Sisters in Montgomery County, Off Square Theater in Jackson Wyoming, and she presently is the Vice President of the Board for 1812 Productions in Philadelphia. June's love of the theater took hold in her teens and she refers to herself as a theaterholic. She has taken acting lessons over the years, had roles in a few community theater productions, and will never pass up an opportunity to perform. Act II Playhouse is Montgomery County's premier professional theatre. It was incorporated as a non profit theatre in August, 1998, and opened on April 21, 1999 - eight years exactly to the date of the Gala.
