The laughs will come at you like major league fastballs and the story will throw you a few curveballs, so get up to bat for a championship comedy!

The show stars Barrymore Award Winner and Philadelphia favorite Tony Braithwaite and veteran character actor Kristopher Yoder, both making their debut at Montgomery Theater.

Don (Kristopher Yoder) is the tough, blue-collar, win-at-all-costs, veteran Little League coach whose son is a star pitcher. Michael (Tony Braithwaite) is a newcomer both to the town and to baseball. He's a corporate executive who agrees to be Don's assistant because he wants a special activity with his son, who's never played baseball before. Out of their conflicting philosophies, the real issues of the play emerge: how should we raise our children? Since we live in such a ferociously competitive society, do we protect our children as long as possible? Or do we prepare them to be tough enough to win? The audience pinch hits for the team as the coaches speak directly to them about competition, character, punctuality, and of course, the importance of wearing the right equipment.

Author Richard Dresser uses America's pastime to portray a study of opposing viewpoints with regard to character building and fair play in a highly competitive society. He says, "In my mind, (the coaches) never agree and they are both right. And as they struggle to communicate their philosophies to the team, they reveal who they are."

Audiences will leave this play smiling as they reflect not only on the coaches' words and actions, but also on their own experiences with encouragement, instruction, imploring victory and urging success - all with hopeful innocence.

Box office opens 20 minutes before show. For more information and reservations call 215-723-9984 or reserve online at www.montgomerytheater.org.
