Bristol Riverside Theatre Continues its Outreach in the Community ArtRageous! Theatre Camp 2007

For Immediate Release: August 13, 2007
Media Contact: Kathleen Gaynor, Bristol Riverside Theatre, 215.785.6664

Bristol Riverside Theatre's Camp Artrageous 2007 will culminate in a performance on the BRT stage showcasing the student's creative work on Thursday, August 16, 2007. Bringing a staff of professional actors, singers, and dancers (including a veteran to BRT's stage, Demetria Joyce Bailey) into the classroom to provide personal instruction to campers, this 6-week camp focused on learning new skills in improvisation, acting, singing, dance and movement, while the afternoon session focused on integrated arts activities. Come and see all that the campers have learned. The first show takes place at 11:30am and the second is at 7:00pm.

BRT has continued to build upon one of their most successful youth arts enrichment programs, ArtRageous, this summer. Bristol Riverside Theatre's Summer Youth camp, for youth ages 7 - 14, ran Monday through Friday July 9 - August 16, 2007 at Grundy Commons, 925 Canal Street, Bristol, Pa. The camp's goal was to provide an educational program for youth that offered a creative and positive outlet while building their confidence and self-esteem, allowing them to discover the limitless possibilities within themselves. By providing a much needed cultural enrichment/arts education opportunity to the underserved youth of our community, campers developed an understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Admission for this event is free and open to the community. If you would like to support BRT's Educational Programming and Summer Camp contact Phyllis Slattery, Educational Outreach Coordinator at Phyllis@BRTstage.org, or Kathleen D. Gaynor, Education Associate at Kathleen@BRTStage.org or (215) 785-6664 for more information.

"We began ArtRageous three years ago with 11 courageous campers. Last year we accommodated 47 campers. It is truly inspiring to see how the camp has grown and has made such a positive impact on some of the youth. Their eagerness and interest in staying involved makes it worthwhile. There is no greater gift than giving a young person the permission and encouragement to believe in themselves." - Phyllis Slattery, Educational Outreach Coordinator
