For Immediate Release: September 27, 2007
Media Contact: Marc S. Goldberg, Storybook Musical Theatre, 215.659.8550

Storybook Musical Theatre today announced a partnership with Target in recognition of its efforts in introducing live musical theater to children as young as three years old. The generous grant from Target will be used to introduce children to the experience of live theater through Pre-Show workshops, presented by Storybook Artist/teacher, in their classes. The children will learn about attending a live performance, be introduced to the characters in the show, and participate in theater related games and exercises. These activities will help their experience when they come to attend a Storybook production. Storybook will conduct a total of twelve workshops over its upcoming season of original musicals based on fairy tales, folk lore and children's literature.

"We thank Target for its generous support and hope that the Pre-Show Workshops are beneficial to the children and help them develop a life long appreciation for theater and the arts", said Patricia Goldberg, Artistic Director of Storybook.

This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5% of its income to organizations that support education, the arts and safe families and communities. Today that translates to $3 million every week.

"At Target, we are making a real difference every day through our grant-making program," said Laysha Ward, vice president, community relations, Target. "We're proud to partner with [nonprofit organization] as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the communities where our guests and team members live and work."
