Luna Theater Announces Philadelphia Premiere of Grace For Immediate Release: December 27, 2007
Luna Theater Company continues their critically acclaimed sixth season with the Philadelphia Premiere of GRACE by Craig Wright. GRACE will be performed at the Walnut Street Theatre Studio 5 located at 825 Walnut Street in Philadelphia, previewing January 25 - 29; opening Wednesday, January 30 and running through February 23, 2008. Tickets range from $20 to $35 and can be purchased by calling Luna Theater Company's Box Office at (215) 704-0033 or by visiting www.LunaTheater.org. Media interviews, actor bios and digital photos available upon request. Story Summary With a mixture of cutting truths and constant laughs, GRACE examines the marriage of an intensely Christian couple, their disfigured neighbor, a shaky business deal, and the way religious ideas make sense - and sometimes nonsense - of life's events. Murder, romance, faith, and betrayal make for an explosive combination in this darkly funny and provocative play from Craig Wright, past writer for ABC's LOST, HBO's SIX FEET UNDER, and creator of ABC's DIRTY SEXY MONEY. About the Playwright CRAIG WRIGHT: Grace originally premiered at Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington D.C. in 2004 where it was nominated for the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play. His play Recent Tragic Events also debuted at Woolly and was subsequently produced by Playwrights Horizons in New York City and by 1812 Productions in Philadelphia. Melissa Arctic, a contemporary adaptation of The Winter's Tale, premiered at the Folger Theatre and won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play. Main Street, adapted from the Sinclair Lewis novel, was commissioned and premiered by the Great American History Theatre. Orange Flower Water has been produced around the country, including an extended engagement at Steppenwolf in Chicago that led the Chicago Sun-Times to name it one of the 'Best of the Year'. Other plays include Molly's Delicious, The Pavilion (Arden Theatre), LADY and The Unseen (2007 Humana Festival). Mr. Wright, who is originally from Minnesota, is a past writer for ABC's Lost and HBO's Six Feet Under, which he received an Emmy nomination for the episode "Twilight". Currently he lives with his family in Los Angeles and is creator and executive producer for ABC's Dirty Sexy Money.
