Going to See the Elephant opens March 28 at The Drama Group

For Immediate Release: January 19, 2008
Media Contact: Robert Bauer, The Drama Group, 215.844.0724

Outside a sod hut somewhere in the Kansas wilderness, sometime in the 1870s, four diverse pioneer women deal with the harsh realities of living on America's frontier. As each, in her own way, attempts to cope with life on the prairie, they talk of "going to see the elephant" or crossing the next hill to see what they might find there. The result is a powerful and beautiful play entitled GOING TO SEE THE ELEPHANT.

The Drama Group's production of GOING TO SEE THE ELEPHANT opens on Friday, March 28 and plays Friday and Saturday evenings through April 12, at 8:00 p.m., at The First United Methodist Church of Germantown, 6023 Germantown Avenue. Tickets are $12.00 at the door. On opening night, Friday, March 28, every ticket purchased will admit two people. On Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5, there will be post-show discussions with the cast and director.

GOING TO SEE THE ELEPHANT was created by Karen Hensel, Patti Johns, Elana Kent, Sylvia Meredith, Elizabeth Lloyd Shaw and Laura Toffenetti, and is being directed by Loretta Lucy Miller. Featured in the cast are: Rebecca Cox, Moriah Gornstein, Carole Mancini and Shelli Pentimall.
