The Walnut Street Theatre For Kids and ArtsPower Present Fish Face For Immediate Release: January 28, 2008
FISH FACE, produced by ArtsPower, continues the Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Season at the Walnut on Saturday, February 2 at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. Fish Face is adapted from the popular series, Kids of the Polk Street School, created by two-time Newbery Honor-winning author Patricia Reilly Giff. This delightful musical addresses both the importance of bridging gaps between apparently different people and the ways to be one's self - even one's best self - without expecting to be perfect. Emily Arrow can do plenty of things well when she has Uni, her toy unicorn, to bring her good luck. She's one of the fastest runners around, she's great at math, and she hardly ever gets into trouble. But when Dawn Bosco appears, everything changes. This new girl seems to be good at everything! She even beats Emily in a race. Worst of all, Emily discovers that Dawn has stolen her unicorn! Will anyone believe Emily if she reveals Dawn's terrible secret? In her efforts to understand why Dawn stole from her, Emily learns a few things about honesty and growing up. Since 1985, ArtsPower has grown into one of America's premiere producers of professional Equity theatre for young and family audiences, the second-largest of its kind in the nation. Its 22 professional touring productions have been seen by nearly seven million people in 46 states - from Alaska to Florida - in some of the nation's top cultural centers, including The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and Lincoln Center in New York. The Walnut Street Theatre for Kids' Series is celebrated for its commitment to encouraging parents (and grandparents) to read to their kids. Kids enjoy the storybooks, and then discover a whole new level of imagination when they see the shows live, in musical adaptations written especially for grades K-6th and their grown-up friends. The Walnut takes pride in bringing families together through reading and the arts. Tickets for FISH FACE are only $12-$14. Our 1:00 pm performance is ASL interpreted. This 60-minute musical is recommended for audiences age 5 and up. For tickets and information, please call 215-574-3550 or 215-336-1234 or visit the Walnut's website at: www.WalnutStreetTheatre.org.
