In celebration of opening night, Action Arts Theater Company will host a complimentary gourmet reception. Theatergoers are invited to enjoy a tantalizing array of hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts. The audience can share thoughts, questions, and reactions with the cast, crew, and director.

Who: Action Arts Theater Company

What: The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry

When: May 9-10 & 16-17, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.

Where: Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Bernard H. Berger Theater

The Story: For the socialites of 1939 Philadelphia, Tracy Lord's impending nuptials to rising industrialist George Kittredge promises to be the Wedding of the Year. For a couple of reluctant but enterprising paparazzi, this wedding promises to serve up the scandal of the decade.

As the wedding approaches, a few colorful characters conspire and entertain. Tracy's mischievous sister Dinah recruits Tracy's quick-witted, hard-drinking ex-husband C.K. Dexter Haven. He's still in love with Tracy and refuses to give up on her. The paparazzi appear in the form of a gifted writer named Mike Connor, and his partner-in-crime, the photographer Liz Embrie.

With George, Dexter and Mike all in the picture, the usually cool and controlled Tracy finds herself a little morally and romantically confused. Philip Barry's delectable and sparkling comedy of manners is the perfect fusion of wit, satire and romance, with a freewheeling heroine who delights, exasperates and charms in equal measure. The Philadelphia Story is a must-see American classic!
