Last Minute Fusion Announces First Projects, Lingering and Oracle - Young Philly natives create a non-profit art/film/theatre fusion company

For Immediate Release: June 9, 2008
Media Contact: Robert DeFelice, Last Minute Fusion, 954.235.4347

Robert DeFelice is proud to announce Last Minute Fusion, a new producing group that incorporates visual art, film, and live theatre. Focusing wholly on the darker nature of the human condition, the company seeks to explore and produce new projects by fresh local artists. The first two projects will be Lingering and Oracle, which open simultaneously on July 30th and run through August 24th at the Playground at the Adrienne Theatre.

Members:

Serving as the artistic director of the theatre aspect of the company, Robert DeFelice, a 23 year old college dropout, is excited to be presenting only affordable world premieres of contemporary playwrights who deal with darker themes and ideas. As a playwright, Robert DeFelice’s first project, Crossings, written with Kate McHugh, premiered at the Philly Fringe Festival in 2001, when he was 16. It dealt with alcoholism, emotional codependency, and AIDS. It opened around 9/11 and was never reviewed or spoken of again. His new play, Lingering, will be the theatre company’s first project.

Lingering is a world premiere tragicomedy for mature audiences only. It deals with the crumbling of a cold modern American family as the threat of terrorist clowns looms in the background. Lingering is a satire of life, death, cosmology, and the space we exist in and is directed by Ken Jordan.

Kristin Mangam, a 24-year-old native of Southwest Philadelphia, recently graduated from The University of the Arts with a BFA in Painting & Drawing. Kristin has big plans for the art department of the company, and hopes one day to be able to help emerging artists launch their own careers and provide a common space for young Philadelphia-based artists to collaborate with each other. Philadelphia has a very special place in Kristin's little heart, and she also hopes to be able to make art accessible to the urban community as an outlet for the burning rage and disappointment she sees around her everyday.

Kristin is opening a solo exhibition entitled Oracle, which will run in conjunction with Lingering. This exhibition, which consists of works on paper, is a continuation of the artist's body of work dealing with the Universe, societal collapse and our planet's inevitable demise by way of asteroid impacts, galactic cannibalism, or whichever doomsday scenario is discussed on the Science Channel that night.
