Hedgerow Theatre, which is currently staging Ray Cooney and John Chapman'sThere Goes The Bride through Aug. 31, officially begins its fall season on Sept. 12.

Great characters and classic stories will fill the intimate 1840 grist mill stage in the theatre's 86th year as Hedgerow continues its Signature and Heritage Series into the 2008-2009 season. The Signature Series, operating under the second year of a Small Professional Theatre contract with Actor's Equity Association, will continue to showcase some of the region's best Equity actors. The Heritage Series will offer shows with larger ensemble casts where veteran performers will work alongside many of Hedgerow's up and coming young artists, particularly those from Hedgerow's resident acting company.

Signature Series offerings include Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry, Sept. 12-Oct. 5. The relationship between Miss Daisy Werthan and her chauffeur, Hoke Colburn, is the backdrop for an exploration of dignity, honesty and friendship in this winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off- Broadway Play. The Series will also present Looking Over the President's Shoulder by James Still, Jan. 9-Feb. 8. The play is based on the memories of Alonzo Fields, who served as White House Chief Butler for four presidents - Hoover, FDR , Truman and Eisenhower. The Signature Series will conclude with The White Room, April 7- May10, a world premiere by internationally-acclaimed playwright Nagle Jackson. This comedy for mature audiences only looks in on an urban couple who arrive home to find an absolutely bare apartment then this witty "whodunit" takes off into the realms of high comedy and suspense.

The Heritage Series opens with the Philadelphia premiere of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure by Steven Dietz. Based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the "game is afoot" on the Hedgerow stage Oct. 14-Nov. 16 as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson match wits with arch-nemesis, Moriarty.

The seasonal family favorite, A Christmas Carol, will mark its 15th year on the Hedgerow stage, bringing to life all the magic of Scrooge's Christmas Eve journey Nov. 28-Dec. 28. Nagle Jackson's adaptation is very faithful to Dickens' novel, and a large cast of adults and children make this a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday and the best of humanity.

The Heritage Series concludes with George Bernard Shaw's classic, Arms and the Man,March 3-April 5. The battle of the sexes heats up this comic masterpiece which examines the perils of love and war and showcases the author's infamous wit and insight into the human heart.
