The Players Club of Swarthmore Presents A Few Good Men For Immediate Release: September 16, 2008
The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater continues its "Oh, the places we'll go..." season with a visit to the crucible of a military court, in A Few Good Men. It's West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin's provocative drama about the trial of two Guantanamo Bay Marines, and the lawyers who defend them. It dares to ask: "When should a soldier NOT follow orders?" The young marines are charged with murder. Their assigned lawyer is a recent Ivy League graduate putting in his time in the military to pay off his scholarship. The case seems open and shut, an easy plea bargain, until a female Navy Commander starts asking inconvenient questions. But how can justice be done when the accused, their counsel, and the witnesses come from worlds so far apart that understanding seems hopeless and trust impossible? Director Joe Southard of Glen Mills has led troops from around the Delaware Valley to bring this famous script to The Players Club of Swarthmore stage, including: James Lin of West Windsor, NJ, Jake Verlinghieri of Swarthmore, Bryan Ramona of Havertown, Kevin Resnick of Mount Laurel, NJ, Kristy Boyer Chen of Wallingford, Ray Engler of Glenolden, Jonathon Reardon of Jeffersonville, Abdel Pena of Swedesboro, NJ, Kevin McPeak of Media, Kevin McGovern of Springfield, Michael Tarringer of West Chester, Paul Recupero of Malvern and Bruce Nutting of Glen Mills. In keeping with the show's subject matter, and in honor of the approach of Veterans' Day, The Players Club has decided to thank and honor military service with a special offer. All veterans or service personnel may purchase tickets to A Few Good Men for half price. Anyone wishing to take advantage of this offer need only state their military status at the box office.
