On Stage Philadelphia, Philadelphia's premiere performing arts preview night, returns Nov. 3 For Immediate Release: October 23, 2008
WHEN: Monday, Nov. 3, 8pm-10pm Additional On Stage Philadelphia performing arts preview nights are the first Monday of each month through May 4, 2009. WHERE: Plays & Players Theatre, 3rd Floor ADMISSION: Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door, and are available from Plays & Players online at www.playsandplayers.org or by calling (215) 735-0630. WHAT: Plays & Players Theatre will present its On Stage Philadelphia performing arts preview night November 3rd, from 8pm - 10pm. On Stage Philadelphia features ten minute sneak-peak performances of upcoming productions in the Philadelphia area representing a wide range of artistic disciplines. Following the performances, audiences will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with artists, and enjoy special offers to the upcoming productions at the post-show marketplace. Audiences are provided with an opportunity to see which peformances are compatible to their interests, and frequently go on to attend the full versions of what they see at preview night. "I have thoroughly enjoyed all the On Stage Philadelphia events since they premiered in August," says audience member Rebecca Garrett, Vice President of Opus Search Partners. "It was a great way to scope out shows ahead of time. In fact, I wouldn't have known about some of my favorites, like Flushdance, were it not for preview night. It was also a great, inexpensive way to take advantage of the arts in Philly." This month's performers include Flashpoint Theatre Company, Melange Variety Cabaret, and Plays & Players own preview of David Mamet's Oleanna, running Nov. 21-Dec. 7. "On Stage Philadelphia highlights the best Plays & Players has to offer," says Bill Egan, President of the Plays & Players Board. "It provides valuable space for local artists to showcase their craft, easy and affordable access to the performing arts for area audiences, and a multi-functional space that can support many different types of performances as well as social functions at the Plays & Players bar." Plays & Players' On Stage Philadelphia series will continue throughout the year, on the first Monday of each month through May 4, 2009. The unique series will be open to the entire performing arts community. Audiences and artists interested in learning more about the series or participating in future events are encouraged to visit Plays & Players online at www.playsandplayers.org, email mail@playsandplayers.org, or call (215) 735-0630.
