The Little Prince at The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater? For Immediate Release: October 30, 2008
The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater invites audiences to take a break from the holiday rush, with the next stop on its "Oh, the places we'll go..." season: a sweet little planet with a big problem, in The Little Prince. Join the Prince on his interplanetary quest in this stage adaptation of the beloved story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. You'll be spellbound by the personalities encountered along the way. Saint-Exupéry captured the world's imagination with his accounts of solo aircraft flights, making flying emblematic of human endeavor. In The Little Prince, he made his hero the emblem of childhood and children the embodiment of innocence and wisdom. In The Players Club of Swarthmore version, patrons will look through the eyes of a child to see how silly adult concerns can sometimes be. Director Jim Carroll of Springfield has assembled performers from around the Delaware Valley to portray characters from across the galaxy, including: Molly Houlahan of Devon, Laura Hrapczynski of King of Prussia, Paolo Barolat-Romana of Philadelphia, Daniel Venini of Drexel Hill, Aimee Wein of West Chester, Jennifer Wolfe of Chester, Janean Clare Bloom of Swarthmore, Rebecca Bauxbaum and Tamin Yurcaba of Lansdowne, and Daniel Callahan of Media. Patrons with a taste for visual arts as well should plan on attending an artist's reception from 12-2 pm, before the December 7th performance. During the show's run, The Players Club will be displaying the work of painter Marge Feldman in the lobby. Feldman's Heaven and Earth series presents contradictions that question commonly accepted values - making her work an ideal fit for the themes being presented on the PCS stage. For a sneak peak at her work, visit www.margefeldman.com. The Little Prince runs November 28-30, December 4-7 and 11-14. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8pm and Sunday matinées are at 2pm. The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is located just minutes from the Blue Route and I-95 at 614 Fairview Avenue in Swarthmore. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students (18 and under or college students with ID). The Players Club is also offering a special Family Pack of tickets for $40.00, and includes 2 adult tickets and 2 student tickets (for the same performance) - a savings of $6.00 over buying the tickets individually. All tickets and ticket packages are available at the box office, or may be purchased in advance by visiting www.pcstheater.org or calling 1-866-811-4111 (ticket sales through TheaterMania).
