LOCAL ACTRESS BRINGS INTERNATIONAL CAST HOME TO BETHLEHEM

For Immediate Release: December 29, 2008
Media Contact: Lisa Jordan, Touchstone Theatre, 610.867.1689

Bethlehem native Mary Pearson is returning home from across the Atlantic in mid-January with an original work called The Eagle Has Landed: Audio Diaries of an Unlikely Traveler. The show will be at Touchstone Theatre in Bethlehem from January 22-25.

Mary Pearson, daughter of John Pearson, the inspirational force behind much of the work Touchstone does today, is a member of Fool's Proof Theatre, an ensemble theatre company based in Liverpool, England. The company is comprised of Mary as well as Ben Phillips from London, England and Britt Jurgensen from Hamburg, Germany. The ensemble creates original work using the various theatrical backgrounds of its members with the goal of finding humanity through their art, and it is supported by Hope Street, an organization dedicated to fostering the arts in Liverpool.

The Eagle Has Landed is a story which examines memory and the imprint a human life leaves behind once it is gone. Marvin Williams, a BBC Radio 4 reporter, is the character this story surrounds as he searches for his brother who has been missing for twenty years. The beautiful events and outrageous situations he encounters is a testament to the work of Fool's Proof that includes "quirky humor, idiosyncratic characters, cinematic perspectives, and rapid, surprising scene changes."

Bethlehem is the first stop for the show's United States Tour, after which it will travel south to be a part of the Baltimore Theatre Project later in the month. It will open Thursday, January 22 at Touchstone and close Sunday, January 25. Tickets are $15 for regular admission and $13 for students and seniors. The Thursday night performance offers "Pay what you will at the door," where patrons who purchase tickets at the theatre on the night of the performance may set their own ticket price. Tickets may be purchased in person at Touchstone Theatre, 321 E. Fourth St., online at www.lvartsboxoffice.org or by calling the box office at 610-867-1689.

Celebrating over twenty-five years of creative work, Touchstone Theatre is dedicated to being an active force in the renewal of theatre as a vital art form. At our heart is a resident professional Ensemble rooted in both the local community of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the international community of the actor/creator.
