InterAct Theatre Company's Writing Aloud Continues 10th Anniversary Celebration With Live WXPN Radio Broadcast & 2nd Performance of Season For Immediate Release: January , 2009
On Monday, January 26th at 7:00 p.m., InterAct Theatre Company's Writing Aloud will be featured on a live broadcast of "LIVE at the Writers House" on WXPN (88.5 FM). Then, on Monday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m., Writing Aloud's 2008/2009 Season continues with a the 2nd performance in its 10th Anniversary Season at The Adrienne. ABOUT THE LIVE WXPN BROADCAST Michaela Majoun will interview three Writing Aloud writers and three Writing Aloud actors, who will also read excerpts from three upcoming stories. The program will be recorded live at Kelly Writer's House and will air on WXPN FM 88.5 at 7:00. It will feature stories by Jonathan Liebson, Kelly Lundgren Pietrucha, and Liz Abrams-Morley, read by Dan Hodge, Jared Delaney, and Lillian Rozin. ABOUT THE FEBRUARY PERFORMANCE The February 9th program is the second performance of the 10th anniversary season of InterAct Theatre Company's award-winning series Writing Aloud, featuring works by contemporary writers read aloud by Philadelphia's best actors. Tickets for the performance, held at 7:00 p.m. on the mainstage at The Adrienne, 2030 Sansom Street, are $15.00 for general admission or $10.00 for InterAct subscribers. Seating is limited, so advance reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 215-568-8079. Discount subscriptions and group rates are also available. A reception with refreshments will follow the performance. The February 9th Writing Aloud opens with "A Courtship," written by Jonathan Liebson (of New York, NY) and read by Dan Hodge (most recently seen in MONSTER with Luna Theater Company and soon to appear as Horation in HAMLET at Lantern Theater Company). "A Courtship" tells the haunting story of one hot summer day when a lonely preacher visits a young newly widowed mother to consult about her troubled teenage son. Next, "A Letter to My Mother," written by Cynthia Reeves (of Wayne, PA) and read by Janice Rowland (recently seen in PSALMS OF A QUESTIONABLE NATURE with Nice People Theatre Company and soon to appear in ORANGE FLOWER WATER with Luna Theater company) traces a young woman's ruminations about her relationship with her mother as she sits on a disastrous airplane flight. Finally, "The Bell," written by Jill Belack (of West Chester, PA) and read by Susan Wilder (recently seen in THE WAR PARTY with InterAct Theater Company) depicts a moment of bittersweet triumph in one lonely woman's battle with breast cancer. ABOUT THE WRITING ALOUD PROGRAM Established in 1999, Writing Aloud has presented diverse voices in contemporary fiction by the region's best writers, read on stage by professional actors, for ten years. Quickly distinguishing itself as the region's premiere reading series, Writing Aloud has attracted sold-out audiences, has been featured in special broadcasts on WHYY-FM public radio, and is a recipient of Philadelphia Magazine's 2001 "Best of Philly" award.
