PEOPLE'S LIGHT & THEATRE RECEIVES $45,000 GRANT FROM THE PHILADELPHIA FOUNDATION For Immediate Release: February 10, 2009
People's Light & Theatre Company in Malvern has received a $45,000 grant from the Harry B. Rust Charitable Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation to support the general operations of the Theatre. Announcement of the grant was made by R. Andrew Swinney, President of the Foundation. The Foundation's board of managers approved the grant on October 27, 2008. "We're so grateful to The Philadelphia Foundation for supporting general operations," states Grace Grillet, Managing Director of People's Light. "This allows us not only to continue our main programs, including the production of seven shows and our educational outreach, but also to hire the staff and maintain the infrastructure necessary to run these programs." Founded in 1974, the People's Light & Theatre Company is a non-profit, professional theatre in Chester County dedicated to producing plays drawn from many sources to entertain, inspire, and engage the community. Up to eight plays are produced each season, including a mix of world premieres, contemporary plays and fresh approaches to classic texts for the Main Stage Series and the Target Family Discovery Series. People's Light & Theatre serves over 85,000 patrons and over 5,000 Project Discovery High School students annually.
