Heartbreak House on Second Stage at The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater For Immediate Release: February 26, 2009
The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is continuing its Second Stage season with a staged reading of George Bernard Shaw's Heartbreak House. As the first rumblings of The Great War are heard in the distance, an ingénue bites her lip and debates marrying for money or following her heart; while her heartthrob (a married man) debates having a fling with his wife's sister. Second Stage welcomes back director Ruth Fischer of Swarthmore, who will make this most complex of Shaw's works new and delightful for all audiences. The performers she has cast to accomplish the task are: Janean Clare Bloom of Morton; Ronald Comer of Wallingford; Matthew Ellis of Sicklerville, NJ; Karen Johnston of Harleysville; Jack Murphy of Hockessin, DE; Kathleen Coll Senkow of Clifton Heights; Stacy Cassel of Tabernacle, NJ; T.J. Deluca of Havertown, and George Mulford and Michael Steven Schultz of Swarthmore. Heartbreak House will be on The Players Club of Swarthmore's Raymond W. Smith stage on the second floor at 8pm on March 6th and 7th at 8:00 p.m. Admission is $5 - (main stage tickets or vouchers that have not been redeemed are good for admission as well, even expired one-per-show vouchers).
