VAGABOND ACTING TROUPE PRESENTS FOURTH ANNUAL ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL For Immediate Release: March 18, 2009
The Vagabond Acting Troupe is proud to present its Fourth Annual One-Act Play Festival. The festival will take place on April 8, 9, and 10, 2009 at 8:00 PM at L2 Restaurant and Bar, located at 2201 South Street. Tickets are $10 each and can be reserved by sending an e-mail to vagabondactingtroupe@gmail.com. The One-Act Play Festival features five previously unproduced plays selected by its core members from over sixty-five submissions. The one-acts include BLANK SLATE by Mary Steelsmith, THE LOCKED EYE by Christopher Braak, PENELOPE by Sharon Graubert, WINCHESTER by Patrick Cleary, and MY INNER CHILD NEEDS A BABYSITTER by Eric Balchunas. Directors include Vagabond core ensemble members Joanne Cunningham, Kristen Gleason Block, Catherine Mary Moroney, and Eric Singel. Actors include Russ Addis, Gerre Garrett, Molly Heckard, Stephen Hyams, Asaki Kuruma, Christian Lisak, Sara Painter, Nina Schrader, Megan Slater, Douglas Thomas, and Ryan Walter. "We are so excited to have had the highest response from playwrights in the history of our festival," notes Executive Director Aileen McCulloch, who notes that the company began annually holding a one act play festival as thanks to all the area playwrights who have assisted the company in building original works from scratch. "As a developmental company, we frequently call on area professionals to join us for readings and feedback workshops. Since so many who turned out were playwrights, we began offering the one act play festival as a way to share other area new works with our community, and thank those who'd helped us develop our own collaborative creations." L2 Restaurant and Bar serves dinner from 5 p.m. on weekdays.
