Story Time for Grown-Ups! 10th Anniversary Season of Writing Aloud Continues at InterAct Theatre Company For Immediate Release: March 31, 2009
On Monday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m., InterAct Theatre Company's tenth anniversary season of Writing Aloud continues with three touching new stories by Philadelphia-area writers. ABOUT The April 27 Program On Monday, April 27, the 2008-2009 season of Writing Aloud continues with three moving and thought-provoking stories about friendship, transformation, bittersweet endings, and fresh new beginnings. The April 27 program is the third performance of the 10th anniversary season of InterAct Theatre Company's award-winning series Writing Aloud, featuring works by contemporary writers read aloud by Philadelphia's best actors. Tickets for the performance, held at 7:00 p.m. on the mainstage at The Adrienne, 2030 Sansom Street, are $15.00 for general admission or $10.00 for InterAct subscribers. Seating is limited, so advance reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 215-568-8079. Discount subscriptions and group rates are also available. The April 27 Writing Aloud opens with "Transubstantiation," written by Kathleen Warnock (of Astoria, NY) and read by Catherine Palfinier (who can currently be seen as "Charlene in Luna Theater's production of HOT'N'THROBBING.) Transubstantiation" is the story of the unlikely friendship between two very different women who, brought together through their Catholicism and commitment to good works, gradually discover that they are two very different kinds of Catholic. The program continues with "Your Story," written by Kelly Lundgren Pietrucha (of Westmont, NJ), read by Jared Delaney (recently seen in SKIN DEEP with Inis Nua Theatre Company), and featured in January on the special WXPN Live from the Writers House radio program that featured Writing Aloud. "Your Story" follows a man trapped in the house with his wife during an ice storm, and the unexpected discoveries that arise from these unusual circumstances. Finally, "Mitzraim (Means Tight Space, the Rabbi Said)," written by Liz Abrams-Morley (of Philadelphia, PA) and read by Lillian Rozin (seen most recently in JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS! at the Adrienne), depicts a woman learning patience and forgiveness in the face of her elderly father's Alzheimer's. ABOUT THE WRITING ALOUD PROGRAM Established in 1999, Writing Aloud has presented diverse voices in contemporary fiction by the region's best writers, read on stage by professional actors, for ten years. Quickly distinguishing itself as the region's premiere reading series, Writing Aloud has attracted sold-out audiences, has been featured in special broadcasts on WHYY-FM public radio and WXPN, and is a recipient of Philadelphia Magazine's 2001 "Best of Philly" award.
