For Immediate Release: April 14, 2009
Media Contact: Michelle Pauls, B. Someday Productions, 215.427.9255

B. Someday Productions at The Walking Fish Theatre, is proud to announce the seventh and final performance of the second season of the Family Theatre Series on Saturday, May 2, 2009 starting at 11:00AM. The Family Theatre Series is an interactive, literature-based performance program for children (ages 2-7) and their caregivers. This performance will take place at the Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue, Phila, PA 19125. The cost is a sliding fee: $1-$10, whatever you feel you can afford. The theme for this month’s show is "Parent/Child Relationships." Call 215-427-9255 for more information.

The Family Theatre Series features two professional actors bringing great children’s stories to life. The children in the audience are encouraged to participate by acting out the characters with their bodies and their voices. After the performance session, the children are invited to make a simple handicraft relating to the stories, such as paper bag puppets. The caregivers will be presented with a worksheet with other related story titles and ways to make reading fun for their little ones. The program culminates with a healthy snack.

Partners with B. Someday for The Family Theatre Series are the Neighborhood Parenting Program of By My Side, a non-profit parenting program active in the Fishtown neighborhood, and Hyperion Bank of 2nd & Girard. "I think this is a great way to introduce the neighborhood kids and their parents to an exciting alternative to teaching literacy," said Teri Ramsay, Director of By My Side and Educational Partner for The Family Theatre Series. Teri will lead the discussion and handicraft part of the program.

This project was supported by the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, PA Partners in the Arts (PPA). State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of PA and support from the National Endowment of the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. Additional support is provided by PECO.

This project is also supported by Target. Additional support from the Dolfinger-McMahon Foundation.

The Walking Fish Theatre is the performance/workshop space for the community of Fishtown/Kensington. Other upcoming offerings at The Walking Fish include Fresh Fish, a 10-minute play festival April 1-19, 2009.
