Curio Takes Audiences Into Summer With A Smile

Curio Theatre closes its 2008-2009 season with A Funeral Farce: An original comedy developed by company members Paul Kuhn and Jared Reed. “We wanted to end our fourth season with a comedy and I think Paul and I got the idea from wondering about what would be the worst thing that could go wrong when people are at their most vulnerable,” said Mr. Reed. "Paul and I took the company at Curio and created our play based on them and their considerable talents. So not only is this a new play, but it is a play written for a very specific group of artists,” he adds.

The plot promises to provide a very funny look at what is normally considered a grim business. When mistakes are made in some businesses, you hear the phrase “heads will roll!” But when mistakes happen at the Fasbow's Funeral Home funeral parlor, entire bodies start rolling! Who’s telling the truth? And can three men keep a secret when one of them is dead… and the other two are trying to kill each other? And where did that corpse go? Start your summer with an original Curio comedy creation!

The cast will feature CJ Keller, Liam Castellan, Newton Buchanon, Cynthia Janzen Rose, Erika Hicks and Jennifer Summerfield.

Jared Reed directs the production.

Curio Theatre will stage A Funeral Farce: An original comedy April 30-May 17 in the Sanctuary of Calvary Church at 815 South 48th St., Phila.

Performances are 7 p.m. Thursdays; 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays. Opening night, May 1, includes a post-show complimentary party. Tickets are $10-$15. Visit www.curiotheatre.org for more information or call 215-525-1350 for reservations.
