Arcadia University Theatre Presents Visit to a Small Planet, April 24-26

For Immediate Release: April 17, 2009
Media Contact: Donna Whitlock, Arcadia University Theatre,215.572.2969

Arcadia University Theatre presents Gore Vidal’s satiric comedy Visit to a Small Planet April 24 to 26 in The Chat Performance Area. Arcadia University is located at 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside, Pa.

“The action inherent in Vidal’s ridiculous situations makes this piece ripe for puppet interpretation,” says Director Alisa Kleckner. “Utilizing puppets in this production gives permission to make larger-than-life choices when exploring the play’s themes of war, fear and attitudes towards sex. Only puppets can defy gravity, move beyond the realm of human anatomy and say the unthinkable. Unlike a traditional cast of actors, puppets are not limited by the physical attributes of the actor; rather they embody the spirit of the story through the freedom of imaginative play. Ultimately, puppet theatre allows mature audiences to embrace their inner child while tackling the relevant issues the play examines.”

Show times are April 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. and April 25 and 26 at 2 p.m.
