11th Hour Theatre Company presents: Avenue X For Immediate Release: May 7, 2009
Music by Ray Leslee Book and Lyrics by John Jiler Directed by Megan Nicole O’Brien 11th Hour brings doo-wop music back to Philadelphia with the exhilarating, all A Cappella musical. Set in Brooklyn, NY, 1963, Avenue X is the story of two young men, who want nothing more than to sing at the Legendary Fox Theater. The only problem is, one of them is white and the other is black. This poignant, emotionally charged musical deals with the issues of prejudice and how music allows us to look past the color of someone’s skin and see our similarities rather than our differences.
