Arden Theatre Company presents the 2008/09 Arden Professional Apprentice showcase Slightly Irregular. Every season the Arden hires a small group of prospective theatre professionals to train in every aspect of managing a theatre company. The apprentices have four weeks to produce, design, develop and perform an evening of theatre. Slightly Irregular will be performed on the Arcadia stage on June 13th at 8pm and June 14th at 7pm. The Arden Theatre is located at 40 N. 2nd Street in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia.

The Arden Professional Apprentice (APA) program exists today as one of the most recognized programs in the country, providing a remarkable training ground for the future theatre leaders of America. The APA program is truly a unique experience and has given the Arden national recognition as a premier theater training facility. This comprehensive “theatre boot camp” (as Managing Director Amy Murphy calls it) has trained sixteen classes of theatre professionals who live and work in the Greater Philadelphia community.

Slightly Irregular is comprised of four ten-minute plays that each explore worlds that are somewhat removed from reality. One of the plays is Fast Women written by Willie Reale – the book writer and lyricist for A Year with Frog & Toad , which was part of the Arden Children’s Theatre series this season. In addition to the short plays, there will be comedic interludes written by all six apprentices.

Affectionately known as the “Sweet 16”, this year’s APA class includes: Bobby Bangert, a native of Maryland; Katherine Fritz and Richard Sonne from two different small towns in upstate New York; Hillary Rea and Maura Roche, home-grown in Center City and Wynnewood, respectively; Gary Thayer, originally from Southern Maine. Please join the Arden Professional Apprentices as they say goodbye to the Arden, and show case their work as performers, set designers, fundraisers, carpenters, costume designers, marketing directors, producers, lighting designers, and so much more.

To reserve your seat, please call the Arden Theatre Company Box office at 215-922-1122. More information can also be found on the Arden Theatre Company website. The Arden is accessible to people with disabilities, providing wheelchair accessibility and assisted listening devices.
