Evil Dead, The Musical - A bloody great time comes to Delaware for Halloween

For Immediate Release: September 4, 2009
Media Contact: Rosanne DellAversano, Bootless Artworks, 302.388.9076

Sam Raimi's classic cult movie turned musical comes to Arden, Delaware just in time to wake all of the Deadites in the neighborhood. Join Ash, Cheryl, Good Old Reliable Jake and the rest of the gang for one demented evening in that cabin in the woods.

Several college students spend the weekend in an abandoned cabin in the woods, accidentally unleashing an evil terror. In this comedic take on the 80's horror franchise, characters and demons sing and dance to songs written specifically for the musical. And, as in the films, Ash is there to dish out his various one liners and fight the never ending Army of Darkness.

With the approval of both Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, the staged musical version of the films enjoyed an outstanding (and lengthy) run in Toronto while in New York it ran 8 times per week to capacity houses at the New World Stages.

Stage Director, Jim Gaspero, was fortunate enough to see Evil Dead, The Musical during its off-Broadway run. Only 5 minutes into the show and he knew he had to some day bring the radacious work to Delaware audiences. "I can't wait until we get the set in place and all of the special effects, bloody and otherwise, rigged up so our group of terrific actors can take it for a test spin."

Music Director, James Fuerst, is excited to be working with the highly talented ensemble comprised of Dane Ferrell (Ash), Colleen Conlon (Cheryl), Justin Walsh (Scott), Jason Webb (Jake), Cristina Perachio (Annie), Melissa Castillo (Linda), Melissa Baker (Shelly) and Brooks Banker (Ed). According to Fuerst, "These eight individuals came into an open audition, most without ever reading the script or hearing the music, and just took over the outrageous characters."
